There are many different versions of Anniversary Stones and Birthstones, and the list changes with country and culture.
It is a nice conceit to use a birthstone in jewellery, but it is all just a bit of folkloric fun. Some people do not like their birthstone and others do not suit the colour. If in doubt, choose coloured gems to suit taste rather than birthday.
To keep things relatively simple, we have concentrated on the more popular Anniversary Stones and on the calendar month Birthstones, but there are other 'authorities' as well as alternative Zodiac stones.
