Cost may not be your main consideration, but it will be part of the equation, so, at every stage, we are very clear about the different elements in the cost of your ring - ensuring that you are in control.

In the following sections we explain our approach, and why it is different, and then give you some sample price ranges.

But first of all ...

I am often asked how much you should spend on an engagement ring.

The old yardstick of two months' salary is just that, an old yardstick. My reply is always that you should spend what you are comfortable with.

You want to give her an engagement ring that she will love, wear and cherish for the rest of her life. Engagement rings are heirlooms to pass on to future generations.

One of the advantages of a Bespoke Ring is that you decide the priorities, and we then create the combination of design, metals, diamonds and gemstones to fit your spec, and still keep within your budgetary comfort zone. This means that you are not limited by cost to what any High Street jeweller just happens to have in their stock.

So, be guided by what feels right for you - designing your ring should be an enjoyable process, you are in control and you decide how much you want to spend.

More Carat for Your Cash

Our business is Design & Commissioning. Our Bespoke rings are made to my designs by craftsmen and women, all specialists in their fields. Just as an architect would for your home, we use our experience, contacts and expertise to engage the best and most appropriate specialists for your commission. This novel approach means that we do not hold stock, and can pass on significant savings in production and material costs to our clients, providing you with a more cost-effective service AND more Carat for your Cash.

Transparent Pricing, Impartial Advice

We work in a different way from most jewellers who set their prices based on a cost multiple. In contrast, we charge for the design and project service we give you and you pay the Trade Price for your commission. This makes our pricing completely transparent and allows us to give you truly impartial advice on which stone to choose.

The traditional pricing model offers the jeweller more profit when they sell a more expensive stone, so it compromises the impartiality of their advice. We are able to show you exactly what you are paying for.

How It Works

You choose your bespoke service level. The fee for that service is specified in your Bespoke Agreement.

When you finalise everything and place the order for your commission, the Trade Price we have already agreed with you is specified in your Production Agreement.

You can fully explore the whole subject of costs and pricing during your free initial consultation.

Price Estimates and Quotations

We provide Guaranteed Trade Price estimates to show you how much your ring will cost in a range of precious metals and stone qualities, so you can make an informed choice about your priorities. At all times we are conscious of the need to keep within the budgetary parameters you will have set.

When you have decided on your design, we identify a selection of actual stones to fit your specifications, discuss with you the pros and cons of each and give you a detailed quotation which will include the cost of making the ring, the metals and gems to be used, stone setting and hallmarking (and of course VAT).

What follows is just a small selection of designs with some sample prices to give you an idea. These illustrate the range of total cost, from design to delivery, including all design fees, production costs, gemstones and of course VAT.

The starting point for a bespoke engagement ring can be around £1,500-£1,600. But of course, the sky IS the limit! A popular price range is between about £2,500 and £5,000. However, if you are looking for that 2.0ct DVS diamond, expect it to come in at rather more.

In any event, I hope this reassures you that Bespoke can fit many pockets.
